We've had the privilege of walking alongside leaders who've discovered they can be present and productive; who've learned to lead from overflow instead of overwhelm; who've found they can have a business and a life instead of a business that is their life.
But here's something I don't talk about often enough: I couldn't do any of this without my own coaches.
That's right. I have two of them. Because here's the truth I've learned over the years: you don't ever want to hire a coach who isn't being coached themselves. That tells you they don't really believe in the value of what they're offering.
For me, coaching provides something I can't get anywhere else. It's confidential and external; I can process my fears, test my crazy ideas, and think out loud without worrying about the impact on my team or my clients. When I share a fear with one of my coaches, nobody freaks out. When I need to work through a decision that keeps me up at night, I have a space to do that before I bring it to anyone else.
Leaders at every level need this. We need coaches, consultants, mentors, training seminars, books. We need to be growing all the time. Not because we're broken, but because we're human. Because the challenges we face keep evolving, and we can't solve them using the same thinking that got us here in the first place.
I mention this because as we step into a new year, many of you are carrying burdens that feel too heavy. You're successful by every external measure, but you're unbalanced, overwhelmed, and overworked. The things that used to work don't work anymore, and you're reaching a breaking point; personally and professionally.
